We're on our way!

Our bags are packed and we are ready to head out on a journey around the world through books and learning this school year! As part of this year’s “Book a Trip!” library theme for our district elementary program, you will get your ticket to read as we celebrate books that take on journeys all around the globe.

At the beginning of each month (starting on October 1st), a “Travel Trunk” will be delivered to each grade level that showcases information about a specific continent and its’ countries. Through fiction, nonfiction and reference books as well as online resources, you will learn about the geography, peoples and culture of the seven continents: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia (Oceania), Europe, North America and South America.

Each month the Travel Trunks will rotate so that by the end of the school year, each South Western student in grades K-5 has traveled the world! You will also receive a passport to stamp after visiting each continent.

In the spring, look for the “Frequent Flyer Minutes” paper to come home where you can read for fun at home and receive a really great prize suited for a world traveler. BON VOYAGE!
